Sheri L. Rowen, M.D, F.A.C.S. is the Director of the Eye & Cosmetic Surgery at mercy medical center in Baltimore and the Rowen Laser Vision & Cosmetic Center in Towson, Maryland. Dr. Rowen received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland, graduating Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She completed her surgical internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and three-year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland Medical System.
Dr. Rowen completed a prestigious two-year fellowship at the Center for Vitreoretinal Research, a division of the Wilmer Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She also served as a Research Assistant at the National Institute of Health and the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Rowen has served as a Clinical Instructor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland. She is currently affiliated with Mercy Medical Center, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland.
Dr. Rowen is Board Certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She lectures extensively both nationally and internationally, while serving as a laser and lens implant instructor and is widely respected by her peers.
Dr. Rowen was one of ten surgeons in the USA to serve as an investigator for the FDA clinical study of the Implantable Contacts Lens. Dr. Rowen has been performing refractive surgery since 1991 and has performed over 4000 refractive procedures. Dr. Rowen's enhancement rate is at 3%.
Dr. Rowen has been nationally recognized on television, in newspapers and magazines for her pioneering surgical procedures.
